Garlic

#7

4 x 6

It's to hot too paint outdoors so I thought I would try another still life. I have never done a garlic clove before. It was interesting because the garlic was under a light giving it a very heavy shadow. I am not sure if I am satisfied with the results.

I must admit I was very tired today.
So, I decided to paint a semi expressionism abstract. Maybe I should have taken the day off of painting.

Palm Tree

#5
4 x 6

This is a plein air of the Palm tree in my back yard. I started painting about 7:30 pm trying to avoid the heat. I wear rubber gloves and of course it was hot. My hands started sweating so much the sweat was running down my hands onto my arms dripping onto my palette. But, I pushed on and painted until it got dark about 9pm. This is the results of my very first palm tree.

Chili Pepper Still Life

This little chili pepper lay on my table under a shining light. I spent a few minutes wiping off and starting again to say the very least. The reds variations were a challenge.

Same canna in my backyard with all the greenery around it. The bloom is really huge the 2nd day
.

Same day. I painted this cherry still life outside. You can see it was in the late afternoon because of the long shadows.

Cannas in my back yard. I focused on the canna and not the greenery around it.

14 Days

My two recent moves over the last 6 months has put me a bit behind in painting. I need some warm up practices. The next 14 days will be focused on warming up and getting back to work. I am temporally painting in my kitchen and drying in my mud room. Each clip will have a new painting everyday.
